Wipro Promotes Dozens to VP Positions Amid C-Suite Departures

Wipro, one of India’s top IT services companies, reportedly promoted dozens of employees to executive roles following a series of notable exits among its top ranks.

According to reports from Reuters, six employees have been elevated to SVP roles, while an additional 25 have been promoted to VP positions.

Wipro recently saw the departure of several key executives, including CFO Jatin Dalal, Chief Growth Officer Stephanie Trautman, Digital and Cloud head Barath Narayanan, Americas CEO Angan Guha and COO Sanjeev Singh.

Many of these departures are believed to be linked to mounting pressure to improve revenue performance. Among Indian IT firms, Wipro is the only one that suffered declining revenue in recent months.

There has been a noticeable reduction in attrition rates across assistant vice president (AVP), VP and SVP roles within India’s IT and consulting sector.

According to data from staffing firm Xpheno, attrition in fiscal year 2024 dropped to 11%, a decrease of 4 percentage points from the previous fiscal year.

There’s been speculation regarding the potential replacement of Wipro’s current CEO, Thierry Delaporte. There were also reports a couple months ago pointing to the company planning to lay off hundreds of mid-level professionals.
