Indian IT services firm Wipro has wrapped up a deal with a bankers’ federation in Brazil to develop an online information platform.
The platform, named Noomis, will serve as a meeting point for the local financial professionals, feeding them with all the information on their industry and carry information in the form of news reports, blogs, videos and newsletters.
Wipro lands this major deal in the South American country’s lucrative financial services industry two years after it acquired an IT integrator, Infoserver, with deep connections with Brazil’s large banks.
The Bangalore-based IT company has not disclosed financial details of the deal but claimed that it had already developed the first phase of the platform.
Gustavo Fosse, a director for Brazil’s financial services industry association Febraban, said: “Noomis is a great technological innovation. It will help bring together key professionals and companies, offering them a place to interact, learn and collaborate.”
Once the portal goes live, Wipro will assist Febraban in managing the content.
Wipro expanded to Brazil in 2006 following its acquisition of Portugal-based consulting firm Enabler. Today more than 1400 Brazilians work for the IT provider in the South American country, with its delivery centers located in Sao Paulo and Curitiba.
Elsewhere in Latin America, Wipro has operations in Mexico, Chile, and Colombia.
