Xerox Corp. has acquired Smart Data Consulting, thus expanding its e-discovery services and technology consulting capabilities. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
New York City-based Smart Data will also help Xerox bolster its managed review and collection capabilities.
“We’re blending key capabilities with market demand with this acquisition,” said Manoj Sharma, executive managing director of Xerox Litigation Services, in a statement.
Smart Data provides hosted and on-site services using Viewpoint software, an all-in-one e-discovery platform developed by Lateral Data, which was also acquired by Xerox in 2012.
“Viewpoint brings simplicity and affordability to e-discovery by enabling corporate legal departments and law firms to manage the entire e-discovery lifecycle using a single product,” Xerox stated.
Viewpoint also offers advanced capabilities for filtering and processing data that is up to five times faster than other e-discovery software.
Founded in New York in 2009 by Ed Robles and Imer Perezic, Smart Data counts several Fortune 500 corporations among its clients.
Xerox says all the 22 employees of Smart Data will continue to deploy, support and deliver Viewpoint-managed services as part of Xerox Litigation Services.
“The synergies couldn’t be clearer for our clients,” said Ed Robles. “The company was first established to address the increasing demands of e-discovery and the key to successful and defensible litigation management is a delicate balance between strategy and technology.”
Headquartered in Norwalk, Conn., Xerox offers business process outsourcing and IT outsourcing services. Its 140,000 employees serve clients in more than 160 countries.
