Romanian video games development firm Amber has announced plans to launch a studio in the Mexican city of Guadalajara.
Amber will have recruited more than 50 technology professionals in Mexico by the end of this year.
The Bucharest-based company says its Mexican office will provide a full range of video game development services, with an initial focus on testing (QA) and art.
This will be the fifth studio for Amber, which opened its fourth studio recently in Botosani, a town in Northeastern Romania. The company’s other studios are located in Bucharest, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
Amber’s Mexican unit will be led by Jorge Suarez, a veteran in the video game industry, with over 16 years of experience, according to local media reports.
“An extensive talent pool within a thriving games community, time zone aligned to many of our partners, made it a logical decision for Amber to expand its operations into Guadalajara,” reported Romania Insider quoting Mihai Pohontu, Amber CEO, as saying.
“This new location will extend Amber’s reach in international development and publishing, gaining access to new markets and partnerships.”
Amber apparently decided to expand its footprints to Mexico to capitalize on Ciudad Creativa Digital (CCD), a Mexican program designed to offer a platform for global creative minds to develop content for the Spanish speaking market.
The CCD spans several creative industries, from TV, cinema, and advertising to videogames, digital animation, interactive multimedia, and e-learning.
