Spanish customer services giant Atento S.A. has named Mario Camara its managing director for Brazil, where the company runs more than 30 delivery centers. Camara, whose appointment came into effect earlier this month, will also serve on Atento’s group executive committee.
For more than five years, Camara led Atento’s banking and financial (F&O) services unit. “During his tenure, Atento has become the leading provider of customer experience and business process outsourcing solutions for the banking and financial services industry in the country and Latin America,” said the Spanish outsourcing firm in a press release.
Brazil is Atento’s largest country unit in terms of revenue, number of clients, employees, and customer relationship centers. Founded as a customer care unit of Spanish telecom giant Telefonia, Atento has operations in just about every major Brazilian city. Reports say more than half of its 160,000 global employees are working from the South American country.
In São Paulo alone, the outsourcer runs nearly two dozen delivery centers. Last year, the call center firm’s Brazilian operation posted $1.2 billion in annual revenue.
Camara, who joined Atento Brazil in 2000, previously served as telecommunications business director and multi-sector business director. Since 2011, he has led the company’s banking and financial services business unit.
“Mario has led our Banking and Financial Services business unit in Brazil. His deep expertise in the CRM/BPO industry and unique leadership skills are tremendous assets for extending our leadership position in Brazil,” said Atento CEO Alejandro Reynal.
Prior to joining Atento, Camara held a number of leadership positions in Quattro A and Unibanco (Itaú).
“I am excited and look forward to continuing to contribute to the success of our clients by providing the best customer experience,” said Camara.
Elsewhere in Latin America, Atento has delivery centers in Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, and Uruguay.
