Atento has named IT consulting industry veteran Carlos López-Abadíaas as its new chief executive officer (CEO). The appointment comes barely a week after the resignation of Alejandro Reynal.
During his more than 30-year career in the information technology industry, Carlos has held positions in several large global corporate firms including the likes of Accenture, AT&T, and McKinsey&Co.
“Carlos brings extensive and relevant expertise in the areas of technology, consulting and digital transformation at the global level,” Atento’s Board of Directors stated in a press release.
López-Abadía, who received an MBA from Washington University, was recently featured in Hispanic IT Executive Council’s Top 100.
“I am very honored to join Atento and its superb team of talented and dedicated professionals,” stated López-Abadía.
“Atento has an unrivaled commitment to lead the customer experience and business process solutions industry in its markets while driving value for clients and key stakeholders. This commitment expands into the digital age and disruptive business environment in which companies develop their activity today”.
A decade ago, Atento earned much of its revenue from its parent Telefonica, but today it makes more than 60% of its revenue from other clients, and its shares are traded on the New York stock exchange.
With a total headcount of 150,000, Atento has offices in 13 countries across the world. In Brazil, it is the second largest employer.
The new boss faces the task of leading the company forward at a time disruptive new technologies are changing the face of the customer services industry.
