While Mexico City is home to literally hundreds of restaurants that celebrate the world’s finest cuisines, none achieve such authentic British and Indian dishes as Brit Majal, located in the trendy neighborhood of Roma Norte.
After scaling the somewhat vertiginous staircase, the restaurant opens up in full view of the kitchen, to witness all the cooking action. However, things get far more welcoming when you reach the beautiful roof terrace, which is great for an afternoon meal in the sun.
On the British side of the menu, Brit Majal serves such homely classics as fish and chips, toad in the hole and even full English breakfasts, one of the only places in the city to do so (they even bake their own beans).
For you Indian lovers out there, there’s a variety of curries expertly fused with English or German sausages, complete with some spicy lentils, naan bread and a choice of garnish.
Of course, what British or Indian meal is complete without a good beer to wash it down? Brit Majal serves a wide selection of ales and craft beers from Mexico and beyond (I highly recommend the Tierra Blanca from Oaxaca).
Overall, Brit Majal is a unique and essential eating experience for anyone visiting CDMX, particularly if you hold England or India close to your heart.
