Canada is reportedly experiencing a serious lack of cybersecurity professionals, as demand for their expertise grows at an annual rate of 7%, according to a new report from Deloitte.
As a result of the talent deficit, companies are more at risk of cyberattacks, which are expensive and reputation-damaging, especially for larger firms. But for smaller companies, these types of attacks can cause them to go out of business.
Deloitte predicts that 8,000 new workers will be needed by 2022. This level of demand has resulted in a 0% unemployment rate among qualified cybersecurity professionals. Unfortunately, this is causing myriad issues for businesses, which are expected to be amplifies by the problem.
