Colombian Businesses Ditch Remote Work; 90% Want RTO Mandates

Colombian businesses are contemplating a return to on-site work, citing the belief that in-office interactions foster quicker learning and better relationships among colleagues.

Nearly 90% of Colombian respondents to a Cornerstone survey said they plan to bring employees back to the office to some degree. They believe the move will enhance creativity among employees and the creation of new ideas by 70%.

Furthermore, 87% of employers said that organizational culture could be strengthened through in-person office work.

Remote work seems to be losing the appeal it once had among employers. The hybrid model, in contrast, is gaining momentum in business organizations.

Of the companies surveyed in the Latin American region overall, 63% indicated a preference for a hybrid work model, while 31% favored in-person work. Only 7% expressed a desire to continue remote work arrangements.

Although there’s no precise data on the prevalence of remote work in Colombia, a report by the country’s federal statistics office (known as Dane) suggests that at least 6% of Colombian workers are currently telecommuting.
