Faces in the Crowd: Mariana Costa Checa

Becoming a social entrepreneur was never part of co-founder and CEO Mariana Costa Checa’s career plan, but since launching and growing Laboratoria five years ago, Costa Checa discovered that “building companies that can change certain contexts for the better is what I want to do for life.” Laboratoria is focused on developing female tech talent in Latin America.

Costa Checa took Laboratoria from a three-person start-up to a movement of thousands of people and organizations and she is looking at further scaling Laboratoria’s impact. “We want to reach thousands of women every year to introduce them to the world of tech, and also further support our growing community of alumnae to see them advance as leaders in the sector,” she says.
