Ricardo Garza tries not to let work consume him. He is a voracious reader and enjoys meditating in his downtime. “This has changed my life,” he said. “It is an extremely powerful practice that balances me out.” But he does love his job championing change as director of operations innovation at Softtek in Monterrey, Mexico. “Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night with an idea?” said Garza. “You get so excited that you immediately write it down so you can work on it the next day.” This passion helped the company achieve its L5 certification — the highest level — in its Capability Maturity Model Integration, and his next major endeavor is to revamp Softtek’s Operative System to create a culture of innovation. “We need to provide the skills and motivation to our team and all our structural levels,” said Garza. “We need to jumpstart the more than 10,000 minds in Softtek.”
