Firstsource Launches its Third U.S. Call Center in Eugene, Oregon

Indian outsourcing firm Firstsource Solutions has launched another call center in the United States, indicating that it is making significant progress in acquiring more clients in North American healthcare sector, one of its key verticals.

At its new delivery center, in Eugene, Oregon, the Mumbai-based firm will hire about 250 people, with some analysts expecting the company to increase its staff to 450 in the months to come.

In November last year, Firstsource, which is India’s 11th largest BPO provider, added 300 employees to its American workforce, expanding its call center in Colorado Spring, Colorado. The Eugene center is the company’s third contact center in the U.S., with the other site located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Unlike its domestic peers, Firstsource’s business expansion slowed down a bit after it acquired two healthcare BPO firms in the United States in late 2007, but the turnaround came when it was acquired by the deep-pocketed RPG Group in 2012.

Firstsource will serve a healthcare client from the new center in Eugene, providing customer care service via web chat.

“Eugene has the skilled workforce we need to expand our business and provide top-notch client service. This is an exciting time for both Firstsource and the region,” said Chris Autry, Site Director at Firstsource.

The outsourcer’s other verticals include banking, insurance, media and telecommunications, and it also has offices in the UK and the Philippines, in addition to India.

According to local paper The Register-Guard, the arrival of FirstSource will persuade other businesses in Lane County to expand. Although the job market has recovered to pre-recession levels in most parts of the United States, the Lane County area has still not generated enough jobs.
