German IT services provider GFT is set to add 40 software professionals to its operations in Costa Rica.
GFT’s Cost Rican workforce increased by 49% in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to a statement from CINDE, Costa Rica investment promotion agency.
Stuttgart, Germany-based GFT arrived in Costa Rica in 2013, but it is not clear how many people it has employed in the Central American country.
“Costa Rica’s role in GFT’s strategy has increased significantly in recent years, as they now not only serve international markets but also bring digital transformation expertise to the regional market and local clients,” said Fabián Salazar, General Manager of GFT Costa Rica.
The German company has a significant presence elsewhere in Latin America, particularly in Brazil. Its regional clients include the likes of HSBC, Deutsche Bank, and Santander, in addition to a few of the biggest Brazilian commercial and investment banks.
Most of its clients are banks or financial services firms because GFT’s goal has long been to become “the reference in digital for financial services.”
In recent years, the company is focusing on web and cloud development as well as data science, business intelligence, and DevOps.
