Nearshore BPO provider GlobalLogic has purchased Sidero, an Irish digital engineering business, ostensibly to obtain access to critical technical solutions required by the telecom sector.
Sidero specializes in creating technology for Radio Access Networks (RAN) and Self-Optimizing Networks (SON). Almost all European telecom sector titans, including Orange, Telefonica, Vodafone, Ericsson and Nokia, are said to be using Sidero technological solutions.
The firm also serves various government entities and provides cloud-native software development services.
“Our deep roots in Communications technology are a perfect complement to Sidero’s expertise and competencies. With our combined strengths, we will bring tremendous value to our mutual clients and further enhance our leadership in this and other highly dynamic verticals,” said Nitesh Banga, President and CEO of GlobalLogic.
Sidero will run independently even after the transaction is closed, with the current management continuing to supervise day-to-day operations.
Founded in 2013, Sidero employs around 250 professionals across two delivery centers in Ireland, namely Athlone and Newry, both of which are located in the country’s midlands.
In 2020, Sidero CEO Carmel Owens claimed that her company had created Ireland’s “best team of cloud-native software developers to build the mission-critical software that powers some of the world’s most successful enterprises.”
