Hinduja Global to Hire 250 Employees in Canadian Town of Windsor

Indian outsourcing firm Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) is gearing up to hire 250 people for its call center in Windsor, a Canadian town in the province of Ontario.
The outsourcer says all new employees will provide customer support for a telecom carrier, whose name has not yet been disclosed.

The announcement comes almost a month after the company’s CEO Partha De Sarkar revealed plans to increase staff by 3,000 this year.
HGS began Canadian operations in Charlottetown in 1996, later expanding with a second office in Prince Edward Island, and then three more in Nova Scotia. Today the company runs dozens of delivery centers across the country, including Pembroke, Timmins, Thunder Bay, North Bay, Belleville and Barrie.
Earlier this year, HGS shuttered a call center in Montague, a town in Kings County, laying off more than 60 employees. While closing the center, officials had assured displaced employees that they would soon try to offer similar jobs elsewhere in the country.
“In 2013, HGS committed to growing their employee base to 600. With this continued hiring we are confident they will surpass this goal,” stated Rakesh Naidu, CEO (interim) of the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation, in a press release.
The Bangalore-based outsourcer says it is focusing on recruiting people for entry-level positions, adding that it would promote ‘successful’ team members to management positions. Unlike their colleagues in India, HGS employees in Canada receive paid vacation and healthcare benefits, in addition to several financial incentives.
“Windsor, one of more than 66 global locations for HGS, has been a very strong operating location for a year and a half and we want to continue giving back, both with the creation of more jobs and by fostering an active culture of involvement in our community,” said Tanya McLean, site director for HGS Windsor.
In nearshore, HGS runs call centers in Colombia and the Caribbean island of Jamaica. There are reports that the company is looking to launch a delivery center in Mexico.
