José Andrés Opens Restaurant in Mexico City

The renowned Spanish chef known for kickstarting small-plate dining in the United States is about to open his first kitchen outside of the country. José Andrés, who owns at least 15 restaurants from his home in Washington to the shores of Los Angeles, is going global by launching “J by José Andrés” in the W Mexico City, perhaps as soon as this month. “I cannot wait for the people in Mexico to try food from my native Spain and enjoy dishes that celebrate the impressive history and cultural connections between Mexico and Spain,” Andrés told Queremoscomer.com. The culinary trendsetter, who was sued by Donald Trump for backing out of a business deal in response to The Donald’s derogatory comments about Mexicans, has a mantle full of honors and awards, including being named Bon Appétit’s Chef of the Year in 2004 and one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2012.
