NTT Data has expanded operations to the Brazilian city of Recife, installing an office in the local technology park Porto Digital.
The new office has employed 120 professionals, with the company officials saying that they would hire another 230 workers by the end of this year.
The Japanese firm has promised to invest a significant sum of money in training employees, announcing plans to host as many as 8 boot camps by the end of this year itself.
“The priority is training and attracting new talent,” said Virgínia Heimann, executive manager of the North/Northeast of NTT DATA Brazil, in a press conference, according to local media reports.
Heimann added that NTT Data would offer 22,000 scholarships to Brazilian graduates over the next two years.
NTT Data is not new to Latin America. It made its first foray into the region in 2011 when it bought Italy’s Value Team SpA, which operates in several countries in Latin America. It is already running delivery centers in Argentina, Costa Rica, and Chile as well.
Its biggest expansion in the region came in 2016 when it purchased Dell’s services unit for around $3 billion.
The Japanese firm controls a majority of shares in Everis as well. The Madrid-based IT/BPO provider has extensive operations throughout Latin America.
