Are you worried that robots might one day steal your jobs? Well, in some of the world’s largest companies, employees are already facing that reality.
Walmart, Foxconn and the US Department of Defense (DoD), are collectively replacing tens of thousands of employees: Foxconn has already replaced 60,000 workers with robots, Walmart wants to replace its warehouse stock-checkers with drones, and the DoD operates the world’s largest fleet of drones in the Middle East.
In industries where repetitive tasks exist, software, AI and robotics are almost guaranteed to replace humans at some level. Even the Associated Press is using AI software to write up company results, so we journalists might also be facing the chopping block!
