National Geographic has named Santiago, Chile, as one of the top ten cities to visit in 2017, calling it “Chile’s sophisticated capital” and “a hive of activity for 2017”.
This recognition is not too surprising; Santiago has been found to be the safest city for foreign tourists, as well as being the cleanest built up area in Latin America.
In the past, the Chilean capital’s tourism has been somewhat hampered by a reputation of being pretty boring, but is now emerging from the shadows with tonnes of activities for visitors.
The city is great for walking, with beautiful green spaces, street entertainment, and re-vamped neighborhoods with great nightlife, such as Barrio Italia, Bella Vista, and Lastarria.
