The Rationale Behind Improving’s Latest Acquisition

IT consulting firm Improving has expanded its presence in Costa Rica by acquiring Oceans Code Experts, a nearshore technology services provider, thereby strengthening its delivery capabilities across Latin America.

The deal marks Improving’s third acquisition in the region, following its earlier purchases of MangoChango in Guatemala and Itexico.

Founded as a rural startup in Costa Rica, Oceans Code Experts initially developed software products for the fintech, sports, and medtech sectors.

The company’s growth accelerated after it opened operations in Panama in 2015. Today, Oceans Code Experts has built a network of technology professionals across 10 countries in the region, with staff augmentation services forming a significant part of its business. The company also maintains an office in Miami.

Upon the completion of the transaction, Oceans Code Experts’ Costa Rican operations will become Improving’s nearshore hub, working closely with the company’s onshore and global teams to deliver application development and digital transformation services.

Keylor Arroyo Villegas, currently Chief Executive Officer of Oceans Code Experts, will lead Improving’s operations in Costa Rica following the acquisition.
