US, Brazil, Mexico Suffer Most Cyber Attacks in the Region

The United States, Mexico, and Brazil are the biggest targets for cyber attacks in the region, according to Kaspersky’s interactive, real-time map of global cyber threats.

Topping the list for the region is the United States, which is the 5th most attacked country on Earth. Brazil is not far behind, sitting at number 6 on the ranking. Mexico joins them at number 7, with the next closest Nearshore country being Colombia at 14.

This adds weight to the fact that Mexican companies spent US$1.6 billion on cybercrime incidents last year. On a worldwide scale, the average cost of a single cybercrime incident is $2,386,719, compared to $1,581,641 in Mexico, which is 32% of the budget for information security.
