Spanish BPO firm Atento has promoted its Brazilian executive Dimitrius Oliveira to the position of CEO, moving incumbent Carlos Lopez-Abadía to an advisory role.
Oliveira has been Atento’s regional director for South America for the past four years, with the BPO provider saying that he played a key role in making the company a top player in the Brazilian BPO industry.
“His sales and operational capabilities, unique network and direct company experience will be invaluable for this next phase of growth,” Atento said in a press release.
Dimitrius has over 20 years of technology and business services experience, leading sales and operations functions for multinational companies such as Avaya, Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens, Genesys Prime and Contax.
“Our mission is to create one strong organization focused on delivering exceptional customer service based on advanced technologies and innovation combined with the human touch,” Dimitrius stated after hearing the news of his promotion.
A graduate of the Universidade de Mogi das Cruzes in Brazil, Dimitrius is also an alumni from Harvard Business School.
Atento made changes in its managing board too, replacing its chairman Robert Payne with Anil Bhalla, a renowned investor in the global BPO industry. The company appointed Bhalla in hopes that he will bring key strategic transformation initiatives and specific growth goals to the table.
“I look forward to supporting Dimitrius in his new role as we work to solidify Atento’s financial position while transforming and elevating Atento’s next generation customer experience and unmatched nearshore and LatAm capabilities,” Bhalla said.
With more than 150,000 employees in 14 countries around the world, Atento has a large customer base for its CRM BPO services in the United States.
A decade ago, Atento earned much of its revenue from its parent Telefonica. Today it makes more than 60% of its revenue from other clients, and its shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
