Former US President Bill Clinton has launched a major recovery effort in the Caribbean, supporting those islands worst affected by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria.
The Clinton Global Initiative Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery will conduct eight unified programs to help Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Dominica.
“When I went to Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Dominica, I was struck by both the determination and the positive attitude of the people there,” Clinton said a the launch event, affirming a commitment to build stronger, safer, more prosperous, and more resilient communities.
The program includes the re-planting of trees, the improvement of mental health, solar power for health clinics, and medical supplies for the elderly, among other things.
