Brazilian conversational marketing app Blip has raised $60 million in Series C funding led by SoftBank and Microsoft, aimed at expanding its operations across Latin America.
This latest round brings Blip’s total funding to $230 million, following a $70 million raise in 2022. Headquartered in São Paulo, Blip employs over 1,500 people and maintains offices in Brazil, Mexico, and Spain.
Originally a cellphone store in 1999, it transitioned to ringtones and then to conversational marketing in 2014.
Blip operates in the highly competitive text-based marketing industry alongside players like Glia, Bird, Gupshup, Voxie, and Emotive.
Its platform enables businesses to deploy AI-powered chatbots for handling customer inquiries. Blip’s tools also support features such as sentiment analysis, and payment processing for conversational commerce.
One notable feature of Blip’s platform is its ability to monitor the performance of customer service representatives.
To date, Blip’s clients have reportedly developed over 300,000 chatbots, facilitating more than 50 million conversations daily via social messaging apps.
The company’s growth has been fueled by strategic acquisitions, including Stilingue in 2022 and Gus, a Mexican conversational AI firm, in 2023.
