December Labs, a software development firm based in Uruguay, and Moove IT, a software development firm based in Texas, have merged to form a new company: Qubika.
The merger produces a more diverse organization with a larger variety of capabilities to serve consumers throughout the Americas, where the firm now maintains five delivery centers: San Francisco, Texas, Huston, Montevideo and Cali (Colombia).
Qubika will be headquartered in Austin (Texas), according to a press release from Moove IT.

The new company did not specify who will be its CEO. It did mention that Charles Phillips, former President of Oracle, and Frank D’Souza, former CEO of Cognizant, will join Qubika’s board of management to support the company’s next phase of growth.
Moove IT employs approximately 300 people across three delivery centers, whereas December Labs, founded in Montevideo, employs over 150 professionals. Following the merger, Qubika will employ all 450 individuals and provide services such as software engineering, data analytics, UX/UI research and cloud services.
Before the merger, both companies served several high-growth enterprise clients including Pluralsight, Unilever, Shopify, ONE, Google and Nest.
“This is an important, exciting, and timely strategic move for our two companies,” said Ariel Ludueña Karhs, CEO of Moove IT.
