Spanish IT consultancy firm Everis is establishing a Latin American headquarters in Mendoza, with plans to increase its workforce from 400 to 2,400 employees over the next 5 years.
Slated to spring up in Godoy Cruz Technology Park, the Argentine headquarters will cost Everis about US$75 million.
Company officials are planning to use the office for developing technology for smart cities, big data, and artificial intelligence, according to Argentine newspapers.
In a meeting with President Macri, Everis regional chief Pablo Manzano Iglesias stated that they chose Mendoza because of its availability of skilled technology workers.
Everis officials estimate that they will spend US$200 million on salaries in Argentina over the next five years.
A subsidiary of Japan’s NTT Data, the company has extensive presence in Latin America, with its delivery centers spread across Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
The company provides a wide range of IT services, including business and strategy consulting, application development, systems integration, and outsourcing.
Everis is the world’s sixth largest IT services provider, and has more than 100,000 workers globally. It reported more than US$1 billion in revenue for the last fiscal year.
This is in fact a major investment for the newly built technology park, which encompasses universities and startup incubators. The government has recently acquired another four hectares of adjacent land with a goal of expanding the park.
