Marcelo López used to be a developer and then an account manager for TCS Uruguay. But in 2008, he branched out to found UruIT — and he hasn’t looked back since. His company is thriving, it was nominated as the software company of the year in 2014 by the Uruguayan IT Chamber, and world-famous organizations are using his services. UruIT focuses on building web and mobile applications for companies looking to disrupt markets with new technologies and agile development. It is a true pleasure for an entrepreneur like López to see others follow his path, building from scratch to make an big impact in their industry. “We have seen many clients — nowadays partners — growing from a few small clients to supporting large multimillion contracts,” said López. So what comes next? More growth hopefully. “In five years, we hope to be delivering from multiple locations in LatAm and the U.S., while maintaining our boutique style, agile culture, and passion for building high-quality and nice-looking apps,” said López.
