The Hemingway Rum Company has finally found a place to distill its Papa’s Pilar Rum: an 1878 tobacco warehouse in Key West, Florida.
The brand has been producing rum in Florida, the Caribbean, and Central America, but the new Key West headquarters will enable it to become a serious player in the high-end, boutique rum segment.
By order of the writer’s estate, some profits earned from the sale of Papa’s Pilar are funneled into causes that protect and conserve the oceans: an aspect of this world that Ernest Hemingway loved so much.
The new HQ boasts an impressive gift shop, a distillery-visitor center showcasing barrels and the still, and a actual desk used by the writer himself.
