Only Two LatAm Cities Appear on the Latest “World’s Best Cities” Report

Only two Latin American cities—São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro—are featured in the 2025 World’s Best Cities Report, ranking 75th and 100th globally, respectively.

The limited representation of Latin American cities in the top 100 highlights a less favorable global perception compared to other regions.

The report, prepared by Resonance and Ipsos, reveals that Latin American cities face significant challenges in comparison to their global counterparts.

While São Paulo excels in cultural and gastronomic offerings and boasts a resilient economy, many cities in the region continue to struggle with issues such as insecurity, social inequality, and limited access to basic services. These challenges impact their performance in international rankings.

In contrast, the United States and Canada have a much stronger presence in the rankings, with 36 cities among the top 100. This indicates a wider variety of attractive living and working options in those countries.

The ranking evaluates cities based on three key pillars: livability, friendliness, and prosperity, considering factors such as the quality of the physical and economic environment, cultural and social vibrancy, as well as innovation and human capital. It also draws on surveys conducted with over 22,000 participants across 30 countries.
