US professional services firm Personiv has acquired its Indian rival John Keells BPO Solutions, adding nearly 500 employees and a contact center to the company’s operations in India, in addition to a dozen clients.
Personiv is not new to India, operating a delivery center in the country’s southern town of Coimbatore for the past few years.
Based in Gurgaon, a booming city near the country’s capital New Delhi, John Keells BPO provides a slew of back-office services to clients in a verity of sectors, including telecommunications, retail, banking, and information technology.
“We were drawn to JKBPO, not only because of their impressive growth, aligned services, and customer-focused values, but also due to their similar culture, core tenets and passion for quality,” said David Lesniak, CEO of Personiv.
Incorporated in 2006, John Keells is a fully-owned subsidiary of Colombo-listed business conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC. The BPO unit was formerly known as Quatrro Business Support Services.
Analysts say the acquisition positions Personiv to capitalize on India’s easily available but cost-effective human talent. Austin, Texas-headquartered Personiv has employed about 2,000 people globally, running call centers in Philippines as well.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the sale of John Keells BPO to Personiv,” said Ronnie Peiris, Group Finance Director, John Keells Holdings.
