Wipro Acquires US-based Rival CAS Group

Wipro has acquired US-based IT consultant Convergence Acceleration Solutions (CAS Group) for US$80 million in a move aimed at winning IT service contracts with America’s large telecom firms.

With exclusive service centers for all segments of the telecom industry, CAS Group is specialized in providing technology services to ICT firms.

Founded in 2007, CAS claims to have all technology solutions required by telecom firms to gain an edge in their marketplace. Its clients range from telecom carriers to data center operators, and submarine cable operators to telecom capacity vendors.

Analysts say CAS eases Wipro’s bid to land lucrative deals with the global ICT market.

“Their long-standing strategic partnerships with some of the largest communications service providers, combined with deep expertise in large-scale transformation projects, will allow us to achieve a significant competitive advantage in this high-growth sector,” said Philippe Dintrans, senior vice president at Wipro, which is based in Bangalore, India.

CAS Group has employed around 150 people and reported US$28 million in revenue for the calendar year 2021.
