Global customer services giant Concentrix has announced that it would add 1,000 people to its operations in the Caribbean island of Jamaica.
The new hiring will double the company’s headcount in the Caribbean country, according to local news outlet Jamaica Gleaner.
Most of the employees the BPO provider is going to hire will be customer service agents, supervisory, and management personnel.
Concentrix installed its first Jamaican delivery center in Montego Bay Free Zone in 2018. A year later, it expanded operations within the country.
It is not clear how many people it has already employed in the country. Reports say Concentrix would hire new workers in Montego Bay as well as Kingston.
“With trained talent, culture, and an excellent level of education, Jamaica is a destination highly valued by our current and potential clients,” stated Jeanne-Marie Dillon Barrett, associate director, service delivery at Concentrix Jamaica.
Concentrix moved almost all its Jamaican staff to a work-from-home environment soon after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the island in March 2020.
The company is hopeful of retaining the work-from-home options for the local staff. In its statement, the BPO provider has claimed that keeping its employees healthy is its priority during this pandemic era.
Concentrix has agreed to bear the cost of providing COVID vaccines to its entire staff in the Philippines, but it has not made similar offers in Jamaica.
These days, the BPO provider is pushing higher-level services such as analytics, robotics automation, and digital transformation services.
